My glasses are lost!

I am amazed at how much time we spend in our short lifes existence, lost. (Lost: having lost your bearings; confused as to time or place or personal identity).

It happens when we are invited to dinner at a new friends home at 6:00 and it is now 7:16 and we have no idea where we are, lost. Looking for keys or glasses under every pillow and cushion in the house, lost. Trying to remember the name of the person who just introduced themselves to you, lost. Searching for the new puppy that has wondered away from your over playful kids, lost. Direction or lack thereof seems to be an ongoing need for most of us human beings.

Of course, many of
those of the male decent, will never acknowledge the fact that we are lost. Although truly lost, we drive miles out of the way to prove after a thousand hours, crying kids, silence in the front seat of our overfull SUV and numerous gallons of extra premium gas burned up, we knew where we were going all the time. We just chose to take the scenic route.

Ya, right!

Without direction, we are lost!

As I think about our direction, I understand why God gives the assurance if we follow Him, of His guidance through the twists and turns of life. He made us and knows how prone we are to get lost. So, with our innate ability to get lost, God offers guidance. It is His own internal GPS he provides though the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.  Both John 16:13 and Romans 8:14 point this out. It is the Spirit that will guide us into all truth and will lead us. Thanks God.

Jill and I arrived in Riga, Latvija August 7. We truly needed God to direct our steps. Although we lived here for a number of years, it was a long time ago. Things change. People come and go. New laws, leaders and challenges. So, our request in letters and church visits was for the guidance of the Holy Spirit as we returned to this part of the world. And He has.

It was 43 days ago our plane landed in Riga. Since then, we found and rented our apartment, purchased a new Speed The Light 4-wheel drive, Kia Sportage, turned our long-term visa requests into the immigration department, met with over 20 pastors and former students, entertained eight guests in our apartment and taught a few classes at the Baltic School of Ministry. God’s direction was and is everything to our successful journey here both now and in the season ahead.

For those who have prayed for us, thanks! We are greatly blessed through those prayers. Keep them up. In the next months, we hope to begin teaching/training for new home-group-evangelism starts, we will teach 2-classes each week at the Baltic School of Ministry, teach a 32-hour MA class in at the Seminary in Moscow and preach in many churches along the way. Direction and guidance from God is vital.

Are you searching for some direction? Is there a feeling of being lost? If we can help you through prayer, please write us. We are honored to lift up your needs as well and we know God will answer!

Here is my suggestion: keep walking by faith and trust God to “lead your steps”. Enjoy the journey!
